The World's First Garden City

Food Festival

Food Festival

The next Letchworth Garden City Food and Drink Festival will take place on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th May 2016 (10am – 4pm). Admission is free however some activities may charge.

Attending will be food heroes showcasing the best UK and local produce, talented chefs cooking up inspirational meals on our demonstration stage and a fantastic range of hot and tasty food. In addition, there will be lots of activities for the children.

With plenty of opportunities for hands-on involvement for all the family we want to raise awareness of the importance of knowing where your food comes from, how local and seasonally produced foods benefit the community, the economy and nature, and help you find out how to cook up some fantastic feasts from scratch.

Festival history

The inaugural Letchworth Garden City Food Festival took place in the summer of 2010, serving up a feast of fun in the heart of the Garden City. Hosted by the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, the first event attracted thousands of visitors. With demonstration kitchens and a packed market place of food traders the event was a huge success.

Since the beginning, the Letchworth Garden City Food & Garden Festival has continued to grow and, by very popular demand, has been repeated every year since 2012. The event is now one of the highlights in the Letchworth Garden City calendar and each year the number of attractions and stalls continues to increase (the number of stalls at the last event exceeded 80). Supported by increased media interest, the number of people attending has also increased significantly year-on-year and we estimate over 20,000 people attended the last festival – that’s two thirds of the town’s populations over a single weekend!
