Steel the Show - Corten Steel Planters Bring Industrial Charm to Letchworth

You may have seen new planters appear in Letchworth town centre over the last week. They are manufactured by a local business from Corten steel, with integrated reservoirs and filled with an array of trees, long flowering perennials, annuals & shrubs including geums, hostas, hebes, ferns, salvias, Heucheras and plenty more. No two are the same!

The planters have been paid for by the businesses in the town centre through Letchworth BID and planted by Sean Wilson Gardens. The mixture of plants will give all year interest and change with the seasons along with the rust effect on the planter itself.

Corten steel is an environmentally friendly option to the previous Summer planters as its long lifespan means fewer replacements and less environmental impact over time. The perennials will return year after year and the variety of pollinators in each planter helps with the Bee Corridor.
