Highlights: Christmas Lights Switch On

It was a festive spirit with brilliant entertainment all round on Saturday 26 November as Letchworth Garden City hosted its Christmas Lights Switch on event. Over 5000 people took to the streets of the town centre to enjoy live music throughout the day and an absolutely amazing parade featuring Father and Mother Christmas, tractors, the Samba band and a whole variety of children’s friends. The evening was topped off by the lights being switched on by a very special guest, Paddington Bear.

And for many visitors to the town, the entertainment didn’t stop there. As many of the town centre shops stayed open until late, there was a really wide range of places for the hundreds of visitors to enjoy and they certainly took the opportunity to do just that.

Town Centre Manager, Richard Harbon said,

“ What an absolutely amazing evening. The Love Letchworth Team worked their socks off to put on an event for the whole of Letchworth to enjoy and they certainly came out in their thousands to do just that. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to put on this great event, from all the entertainers, the wonderful groups in the parade, the Letchworth and Baldock Lions with their Santa’s sleigh and all their wonderful volunteers, collecting money for Garden House Hospice Care. Thank you and a very Happy Christmas from all at Love Letchworth.”
